West Ham United were beaten 3-2 by Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane yesterday.
West Ham United may have suffered a poor start to the season, but none of their defeats have been as painful as their one against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
West Ham were leading 2-1 at White Hart Lane, as the match entered the final stages.
The win would have lifted Slaven Bilic’s side up the Premier League table and away from the relegation spots.
It would also have ended Tottenham’s unbeaten record, and severely damaged their London rival’s title hopes this season.
However, just as it seemed West Ham were about to claim the three points, Spurs staged a remarkable comeback.
Harry Kane struck an equaliser in the 89th minute, and then the England international smashed in a winner from the penalty spot in added time.
The defeat caused a great amount of frustration for West Ham supporters, and the pain the loss had caused was very evident in both Aaron Cresswell and Pedro Obiang at the end of the match.
West Ham are now stuck just one point above the drop zone, with their start to the season being extremely worrying.
