Queens Park Rangers had a number of players leaving at the end of the 2015-16 season. Alejandro Faurlin, Robert Green, Clint Hill and Armand Traore were among the players who parted company with QPR in the summer of 2016.

Matt Phillips also left Rangers last summer. The 26-year-old winger joined Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £5.5 million.

The Scotland international has been a success at West Brom and has proved to be a good signing for the Baggies.

The winger has scored four goals and created 32 chances in 24 Premier League appearances for Tony Pulis’s side so far this season.

During the 2015-16 campaign, Phillips scored eight goals and created 67 chances in 44 Championship matches for QPR.

Rangers probably did not have any choice but to sell Phillips last summer. After all, it is hard for any Championship club to say ‘no’ when a Premier League team come calling for one of their best players.

In hindsight, though, it was a mistake from QPR. Phillips’s presence in the team would have made Ian Holloway’s side more potent in attack and could have helped them at least push for a top-six finish in the Championship this season.
