The Premier League is taking another break from action this weekend as the international fixtures return, so after seven matches it is a good time to reflect on the 2017/18 season so far.

There have been impressive performances from teams in the English top tier and some great showings from managers, so here are three best bosses this term so far.

Sean Dyche

In 2016/17 Burnley took five points from their 19 away games in the league. They already have seven this time around, including wins at Chelsea and Everton and draws with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Dyche has often been accused of being a long-ball merchant with an archaic style, but the winner against the Toffees in their last fixture saw almost every player in the team touch the ball in a slick passing move. The Clarets are currently sixth with the 46-year-old having his side organised and well drilled in their duties.

Pep Guardiola

It may seem harsh to include Guardiola and not Jose Mourinho when Manchester City and Manchester United are level on points at the top with only one extra goal scored from the Citizens edging them into first.

However, City have got there via wins against two of last year’s top four with a 5-0 demolition of Liverpool and a 1-0 triumph at Stamford Bridge in a result that actually flattered the hosts. Guardiola was overjoyed with the result against the Blues as his tactics truly clicked and it is already hard to look beyond his team for the title.

Marco Silva

Having almost kept Hull City up against the odds last campaign, the conveyor belt of managers at Watford saw Silva as the latest name through the door and his meticulous attention to detail has taken effect immediately.

The Hornets are eighth in the table and free-scoring in attack while keeping it fairly solid at the back (with a 6-0 defeat by Man City skewing their goals against column) and the Portuguese is quickly becoming one of the most impressive coaches in the division.
