Jim Beglin has criticised Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares for the mistake he made against Liverpool at Anfield tonighty, as quoted on PremierLeague.com.
What’s the story?
Arsenal suffered a heavy defeat to Liverpool away from home at Anfield this evening.
The Gunners started the game well, but Jurgen Klopp’s side then took control.
And they won 4-0, with Mohamed Salah and Takumi Minamino among the goals.
Sadio Mane scored the opening goal in the 39th minute.
Diogo Jota made it 2-0 on 52 minutes.
Jota showed great composure in his goal, but we have to say that young left-back Tavares should have done better.
The Portuguese left-back sent a blind pass towards his own area.
What Jim Beglin said
Former Liverpool left-back Beglin was following the match for Premier League Productions, and he was not pleased with Tavares.
The pundit was also not happy with how Arsenal conceded the first goal.
Beglin said: “I don’t know what Tavares is thinking, that’s wild. But Jota – the composure and the ability to just know what was around him. The little faint to send Ben White across the turf. It’s beautifully finished.”
The pundit said about the first goal: “”Arsenal don’t get it right between Gabriel and Tomiyasu, that’s where the space was for Mane. Maybe the keeper could have done a bit better, but I must admit there was plenty behind the header.”
Nuno Tavares will learn from Arsenal mistake
Tavares is only 21, and we should not be too harsh on the Portuguese player.
Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world.
The youngster has done well when he has played in place of Kieran Tierney.
Tonight the 2021 summer signing did not have a good game.
In our view, Tavares will learn from his mistake against Arsenal.
