Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told Sky Sports why he took off Tyler Morton against Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
Klopp’s Liverpool played out a 2-2 draw with Tottenham away from home in the Premier League.
Morton started the match for Liverpool.
It was the 19-year-old midfielder’s full Premier League debut.
Klopp took off the teenager on the hour mark and brought on Roberto Firmino.
The Liverpool boss has said that his decision was due to the fact that Morton was on a yellow card.
Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool’s Tyler Morton v Tottenham
Klopp told Sky Sports: “Tyler Morton, he looked fine, but he had a yellow card, that’s why we had to take him off.”

Sensible decision
It seems that Liverpool manager Klopp wanted to protect Morton against Spurs.
The youngster was already on a yellow card, and that is always dangerous for a midfield player.
Moreover, Morton is only 19 and was playing in just his second Premier League game.
So, the England Under-20 international midfielder’s lack of experience could have gone against him in terms of getting a second yellow and getting sent off.
We also should not forget that Liverpool are short on numbers in midfield.
Jordan Henderson did not play against Tottenham, and Thiago and Fabinho have covid.
So Liverpool will need Morton in the upcoming games.
