Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Curtis Jones is back fit after an injury layoff, hinting that he could be involved against Newcastle.
The Reds play the Magpies in the early kick-off on Saturday, and with Jones back fit and available for selection, he could play a part against the Tyneside outfit.
Of course, it’s unlikely that he will start after being sidelined with an injury, but a cameo appearance from the bench is certainly possible, especially if Liverpool are in a comfortable position in the second half.
Klopp confirmed Jones’ return in his press conference, saying:
“Curtis is back, yeah that’s true. All of the others are not.”
Liverpool could certainly do with that added depth in midfield, especially with the injury to Nat Phillips forcing Fabinho into centre-back once again.
Fingers crossed Jones can come back and it the ground running, and who knows, perhaps he could make a late claim for the England squad as the Euros are now just around the corner.
Whether or not Jones is involved against Newcastle remains to be see, but this is certainly a boost for the Reds.
