Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp spoke to the club’s official website ahead of his side’s Champions League clash against Atalanta on Tuesday.
The Reds are back where they belong in the Premier League and in Europe. Liverpool are top of the league table and have won their two games in the Champions League.
Many feel injuries will hold Liverpool back this term. Virgil van Dijk’s absence is the biggest blow and the Dutchman is expected to miss the majority of this season, if not all of it.
Joel Matip is Liverpool’s natural replacement for van Dijk, but the former Schalke man has also been struggling. Naby Keita has missed the last five games in all competitions with an injury, and he too is a big miss for the Reds.
Summer signing Thiago showed his class on his Liverpool debut, but he has had a hard time away from the pitch since. The Spanish magician has only played once after his splendid second-half against Chelsea back in September.
Klopp was asked about Thiago, Matip and Keita’s potential returns ahead of his side’s trip to Bergamo, and the Liverpool boss didn’t seem too confident.

Thiago’s out but Matip and Keita have a chance
He said: “We have to see. Yesterday was recovery for some and normal training for the others, so now we have to see how the boys feel today. It’s pretty early now and I have not all the information, but I hope nothing serious.
“Naby (Keita) and Joel (Matip) trained yesterday with the team, full, Thiago didn’t. So, that’s the situation. I have really no idea what I do with this information in the moment because yes, they trained, that’s good, it’s better than if they don’t train. But we have to see what we do with it.
“We have another day to make these decisions. A lot of players will be on the plane hopefully, and so decisions will be made late, late, late.”
