Neville Southall has been speaking to the Liverpool Echo about the issues Everton are currently facing, after Rafa Benitez was sacked.
What’s the story?
Well, in a passionate interview, Southall questioned Farhad Moshiri for his work at Goodison Park, and also took aim at Marcel Brands.
Interestingly, the 63-year-old also made an odd claim about Jordan Pickford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Southall suggested that Everton replace the pair of them, despite the fact we feel they’re two of the best players at Goodison Park right now.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Southall said: “If there’s somebody out there better then we should sign them. That’s the problem we’re having. Jordan Pickford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are two great players but shouldn’t we be looking for better already?
“Shouldn’t we be looking for a better centre-forward than Calvert-Lewin?
“Shouldn’t we be looking for a better goalie than Pickford? Not because they’re doing anything wrong but because the club should be looking forward.”

Now, let’s walk before we try to run.
There is plenty of work to do at Everton before we even begin to discuss the playing staff.
A replacement for Benitez must be found, while a new Director of Football needs to be hired as well after Brands departed.
Neville Southall is wrong to target Everton duo
Of all the players at Everton right now, we’re not quite sure why Southall chose Pickford and Calvert-Lewin as the two he’d replace.
In our view, there are many other players we’d think about replacing before those two.

The likes of Michael Keane and Yerry Mina have failed to impress at centre-back, while Salomon Rondon should be nowhere near Everton at this stage of his career.
We understand that Southall is striving for improvement, but that doesn’t mean replacing your best players.
What Everton need to do is surround the likes of Pickford and Calvert-Lewin with better quality, and then we’ll surely start to see their performance levels rise.
