Arsenal manger Mikel Arteta has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:37pm, August 20, 2022) that he did not expect William Saliba to score the goal like he did against Bournemouth in the Premier League today.
Arteta has admitted that he was shocked to see Saliba chip in a superb goal during Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Bournemouth away from home at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The 21-year-old France international central defender found the back of the net in the 54th minute when he chipped the ball over Mark Travers and into the net.
Mikel Arteta on Arsenal’s William Saliba
Arteta said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:37pm, August 20, 2022) when asked about Saliba’s goal: “That’s the last thing that I would expect, but credit to the boy for the way he is performing and obviously for the goal today.”

Gem
In our opinion, William Saliba is proving himself to be a real gem of a footballer for Arsenal.
The 21-year-old has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water and has been playing superbly at the back for Arsenal in the opening games of the new Premier League season.
The way Saliba scored against Bournemouth was superb.
That the youngster had the confidence to actually try to score the way he did says a lot about his quality on the ball and ability as a footballer.
We think that Saliba has the potential to be world class in the coming years, but at the same time, we have to be patient with him.
