Patrick Bamford told Sky Sports that for the first time he saw an opposition team ‘press similar to the way we do’ during Leeds United’s win against Southampton on Tuesday night.

The high-flying Englishman was on the scoresheet once again, but only after a goalless and eventful first-half from both teams.

Whilst Southampton may have been annoyed with the penalty being overturned and the disallowed goal from the free-kick, they can have no complaints about the 3-0 loss after bring thrashed after the break.

But Bamford made it clear that the struggling Saints ‘made it difficult’ for Leeds and praised them for their forward-thinking approach.

“To be honest, it was quite an even game in the first half especially,” said Bamford.

“That’s the first team I have seen come and press similar to the way we do. And it made it difficult.

“Then it was about who really got the first goal, and fortunately, we got it then went onto get the three points.”

That win moved Leeds into the top ten of the Premier League table and it’s all steam ahead for this 100 miles per hour machine.

The next stop is Aston Villa and facing off against some familiar opposition.

Going back to their Championship days, both Leeds and Villa have had some titanic battles and this weekend shouldn’t be any different.
