Andy Gray has mocked Liverpool attacker Mo Salah for his perceived theatrics on Saturday.

The Reds came from behind to beat West Ham United 2-1 at Anfield.

And it was Salah who fired Liverpool back on level terms shortly before the half-time whistle following a contentious penalty decision.

Arthur Masuaku was adjudged to have fouled the Egypt international inside the box, though television replays indicated there was minimal contact relative to Salah’s reaction.

During BEIN Sport’s coverage at half-time, Richard Keys and Gray ran the rule over the incident and their microphones picked up a cry of distress from the Liverpool forward after Masuaku’s challenge.

Here’s how Gray reacted: “That’s quite a scream! There is contact but if you’re asking me is that enough to bring Mo Salah to that reaction with his body, no it’s not. Mo certainly throws himself to the ground.”

Controversy aside, this was the 28-year-old’s seventh Premier League goal in as many games for Liverpool so far this season.

There’s a much greater importance on the Reds’ forward line now because their defensive line has been decimated by injuries to Virgil van Dijk – who won’t play again until the 2021-22 campaign – and Joel Matip.

And although there was a sense of controversy about the penalty decision, no Liverpool fan, nor Jurgen Klopp for that matter, will care.

They have eeked out another three points and the result is more important than how it came about for the Premier League champions.
