Tim Sherwood told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (28/08/21 at 1:30 pm) that he could only see Harry Kane now leaving Tottenham for clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United.

The former Spurs boss made it clear that Kane will only leave the club next summer for a team ‘where he knows they can win’, although Sherwood added that it wouldn’t surprise him now if he finishes his career in North London.

Kane came out on Twitter this week to tell the Tottenham supporters that he is staying put ‘this summer’ after Manchester City were keen on signing him.

Come next summer, Kylian Mbappe will be a free transfer whilst a certain Erling Braut Haaland might just become one of the most sought-after players in the world.

Nonetheless, after Kane decided that he was staying at Spurs, this is what Sherwood had to say about his recent call.

“For me, it looks like it might be now or never,” said Sherwood. “Harry Kane, at the end of next season, I think he stays there for the whole season, even though he said that he is staying ‘for this summer’.

“Other teams, like Man City probably go for Haaland now. On a £70 million buy, so that blocks the pathway. He won’t leave for leaving sake. He will leave because he needs to go to a club where he knows they can win.

“Now, that’s probably Liverpool in the Premier League. Manchester United. Manchester City or Chelsea. It won’t be Chelsea now because they have signed Lukaku.

“I can see him staying there for the remainder of his career. That could be the only one, couldn’t it? Man United because Ronaldo isn’t going to be there forever.”

Given Kane’s age and potential price tag, even next summer, he isn’t the type that Liverpool would go for.

Plus, whilst he has all the technical qualities and obvious goalscoring talent to walk into Liverpool’s side, that lack of speed might just not suit Jurgen Klopp’s system.

And given that a certain Cristiano Ronaldo has landed on Man United’s doorstep, it begs the question as to who would really push for Kane next summer given the price tag over his head?

All in all, this is good news for Spurs fans because this gives someone like Daniel Levy, who didn’t make the best use of the position Mauricio Pochettino put them in, to win a trophy and get back into those Champions League places.
