John Barnes stated on Twitter ‘that not how you show hunger’ as he was making reference to Sadio Mane’s angry reaction for being substituted during Liverpool’s 7-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Anfield legend thinks Mane should ‘show his hunger’ by performing on the field of play, which he ‘certainly’ is, according to the former England winger.

Liverpool ran riot in London yesterday to open up a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table – amazingly enough, even though they netted seven, Mane only had one goal to his name.

But just before the hour mark, Klopp opted to bring Mo Salah on for Mane, who clearly wasn’t happy with the call, as Barnes shared his thoughts on social media.

There was, of course, that memorable moment at Burnley last season when Mane was being substituted and he was seemingly angry at Salah for not passing him the ball during the game.

In truth, this attitude is what made Liverpool champions of Europe under Jurgen Klopp and champions of England for the first time in 30 years last season.

And that attitude, in which the likes of Mane show, is something that should be applauded.

It’s not the first time it has happened, it won’t be the last and it will probably play a part in Liverpool dominating English football once again.
