Owen Hargreaves has told BT Sport, during their live Europa League coverage, that Tottenham Hotspur’s Carlos Vinicius put in a display last night which proved he isn’t a reserve.
Vinicius was brought to Tottenham to provide cover to Harry Kane for the season.
The Brazilian was brought in to do his job last night, as Jose Mourinho decided to rest Kane against LASK in the Europa League.
And Vinicius was so impressive that Hargreaves thinks that he simply cannot be left on the bench all season.
“The big difference for me is that Lucas and Bergwijn want to play wide but he’s comfortable with his back to goal,” he said.
“He’s a big physical presence. He had 18 goals and eight assists in Portugal and we saw today he can be creative.
“That’s not a reserve centre forward, the way he played today. He will be because Harry Kane is the best, but they have a really good player that when Kane needs a break he can step in.”

Vinicius managed to claim two assists yesterday, as Tottenham picked up a 3-0 win.
The Benfica loanee first set Lucas Moura through on goal with a lovely left-footed pass, before teeing up Heung-Min Son with a clever cushioned header.
Despite his excellent display, Vinicius is likely to drop to the bench on Monday, when Tottenham take on Burnley in their next Premier League match.
