Chris Sutton told BBC’s 606 programme that it’s ‘insulting’ that a fee of £15 million is being bandied about for Arsenal target Emi Buendia, as he urged the player to snub a move.

Arsenal are in need of creative talent after a pretty abject start to the season, which has seen them, at one point, being dubbed as potential relegation candidates.

Well, Football London have claimed that with the January transfer window open, Norwich’s creative spark is a player who is wanted by Arsenal.

But Norwich legend, Sutton, urged the playmaker to stay at Carrow Road and help them earn promotion back to the Premier League.

“I have seen the figure £15 million bandied about,” said Sutton. “That’s insulting. Why would Norwich sell a player who would be such an integral part of getting them promoted?

“I would think the fact that Norwich showed great loyalty and faith in him. I think he was playing in a Spanish second division team. They have made him. They have turned him into the player and given him the profile which he has now. Extremely talented player. All I have to say is that he has to see this season through. He owes it to Norwich City.

“If I was in his shoes, I would see it through. I would get Norwich back to the Premier League then I would say ‘thank you very much, Norwich City, you have been great for me and I have been great for you.’. And then I’d go on way and everybody is happy.”

Daniel Farke’s side are sitting top of the tree in England’s second-tier and Buendia has once again been a key player behind their success.

There’s no doubt with Buendia in their team, Norwich are almost guaranteed a top-six finish and they will then have to shoot themselves in the foot not to earn promotion via the automatics.

But when a club the size of Arsenal comes knocking, regardless of their struggles, it’s very hard to turn such an opportunity down.
