Glenn Hoddle has claimed that Harry Kane was ‘outstanding’ during Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Manchester City on Saturday, as he told PL Productions (19/02/22 at 7:30 pm).
The Spurs legend added that his former side’s stunning late win at the Etihad was ‘unbelievable’.
Given that the north London club went into yesterday’s game on the back of three defeats on the bounce and talk of that Antonio Conte interview.
It was all put to bed pretty much straight away when Dejan Kulusevski opened the scoring early on, before Man City levelled the scores in the same half.
Kane then got his first of the night at the start of the second period and Tottenham fans would have felt devastated when Riyad Mahrez scored from the spot-kick late in the game.
But the emotions of Tottenham supporters went from pure disappointment to utter joy when Kane headed in the winner.
Hoddle lauded the tactical display put up by Conte and the performance of Kane overall.
“It was unbelievable, I got to say,” said Hoddle. “To come into this game in such poor form and to play to that level.
“Tactically, Conte has it right and they went out and implemented it. They knew how to defend and they always looked dangerous on the break.
“That man Harry Kane was outstanding. His passing, movement and he was unfortunate he didn’t score a hat-trick with VAR chalking one off.
“He’s almost playing as a number nine and number ten. That’s how good he is.”

Even Kane would admit that he has been nowhere near his best this season for Spurs.
But against the club that seemingly wanted to sign him in the summer, he produced his best of this campaign so far.
A midfielder and striker rolled into one, it was an outstanding all-round display from the England captain and one that adds more hope to the club’s chance of securing Champions League football.
