Aston Villa target Ibrahim Sangare is ready for the Premier League and could fit in at Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur, former PSV Eindhoven coach Aad de Mos explains on his Twee Viertje podcast.
According to Sangare’s agent, Arsenal made an approach for the colossal Ivory Coast international during the summer of 2020 before deciding instead to push on with a deal for Thomas Partey (De Telegraaf).
Southampton were also keen, prior to the masterful midfielder’s shock switch to the Eredivisie two years ago. So Premier League interest in Sangare is nothing new.
Voetbal International reports that Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard was in the stands to watch the former Toulouse enforcer in the flesh during PSV’s UEFA Conference League quarter-final clash with Leicester City recently.
Newcastle have also expressed an interest in the now-£25 million-rated Sangare.
But, according to De Mos, the 24-year-old can afford to aim higher than two clubs sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League.
Which club will Ibrahim Sangare join?
“He is the key to this PSV side,” says De Mos, who coached the Eredivisie giants between 1993 and 1995. “He’d fit in at the top five clubs of the Premier League. That’s how good he is.

“Is he ready for a mid-table Premier League club? Well, not mid-table. He’s ready for the top. If I compare him with players I see at Arsenal, or the midfielders at Tottenham, he can come.

Sangare produced a formidable performance in the heart of Roger Schmidt’s midfield as PSV beat bitter rivals Ajax in the Dutch Cup final last weekend.
“He always plays well,” De Mos adds. “I don’t know who his agent is and what his salary is at PSV. And if I were PSV, I would make him a new (contract) offer, add three years and see if he is sensitive to that.”
