Rio Ferdinand has slammed Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris on BT Sport, after he failed to keep out Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s effort last night.
Tottenham fell to a 5-4 defeat to Everton in the FA Cup yesterday, and Lloris was well short of his best in the contest.
The £8 million Frenchman (Daily Mail) should have saved Calvert-Lewin’s drive early on, despite the power on the shot.
Lloris failed to keep his arms strong enough when the ball was volleyed straight at him, and he fell backwards into the goal.
That mistake seemed to be the catalyst for a night of defensive errors from Tottenham.
And Ferdinand was not kind at all towards Spurs’s captain during the match.
“That’s embarrassing,” he said. “It’s an embarrassment that is. He’s fell backwards into his goal. It’s a powerpuff effort there, weak. He’ll be disappointed I’m sure, as well as the Spurs fans.”

Lloris had been one of Tottenham’s most solid performers during the early part of Mourinho’s reign.
However, errors have started creeping back into his game recently, and there are concerns that he is becoming too mistake prone again.
Lloris’s Tottenham future could now be assessed in the summer, as this Spurs side is surely conceding far too many goals for Mourinho’s liking.
