Speaking on the Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer have had a bit of a disagreement about Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The pair were tasked with naming the 10 greatest set-piece takers in Premier League history, and while Alexander-Arnold was on both of their lists, Richards had ranked him a lot higher.
Shearer had the full-back down as his eighth greatest set-piece taker in Premier League history, while Richards had him as high as second, behind only David Beckham.
What’s been said?
Richards was shocked by Shearer’s ranking of Alexander-Arnold.
“Honestly, where do you have him now? At number eight? That’s embarrassing, how is he so low?” Richards said.
“He’s only scored four free-kicks that’s why He’s only 23 is he? That’s not to say he’s not brilliant, he’s excellent, he’s brilliant at it,” Shearer said.

Tough
We can see the arguments from both sides here.
On one hand, Alexander-Arnold’s corners and free-kick deliveries are absolutely incredible. He’s set up goal after goal from those situations and he’s mastered that skill.
However, while his free-kicks are good, as Shearer says, he’s only scored four in the Premier League, and that is a tally lower than even the likes of Chris Brunt and Robert Snodgrass – two players who weren’t even mentioned on this list.
Of course, Alexander-Arnold’s career is still only just getting started – he is only 23 years old after all, but it’s hard to consider someone with only four free-kick goals to their name as the second-greatest the Premier League has ever seen.
