Harry Kane has slated his Tottenham Hotspur team-mates over their ’embarrassing’ form and claimed that teams like Arsenal were not better than them.

Spurs went into the international break on the back of a much-needed victory away to Aston Villa.

Prior to that, Tottenham had been eliminated from the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb and lost the North London derby to Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners edged out Jose Mourinho’s side in a surprisingly simple win for the hosts, who fell behind to Erik Lamela’s stunning rabona.

Kane has told Tottenham’s official website that defeat is one thing if the opposition are better on the day, but the Lilywhites hitman has claimed that wasn’t the case in the derby or against Dinamo.

He said: “You can lose football matches, you can have games where the opposition are better, but that wasn’t really the case.

“We didn’t have any fight, any passion and that’s embarrassing from our point of view as players, we’re the ones on the pitch and we have to control that.”

Were Tottenham better than Arsenal a couple of weeks ago? Well, no.

Mikel Arteta’s side had 53 percent possession and seven more shots than their local rivals who, despite a brilliant start, dropped off entirely and didn’t really begin theatening again until Lamela got sent off.

And Kane and co also lost to Dinamo 3-0 so it’s difficult to argue on that occasion that Mourinho’s troops weren’t out-played on the night.
