Sky Sports News pundit Lee Hendrie waxed lyrical about Manchester City talent Cole Palmer after scoring his first professional goal for the club.
Speaking on Gillette Soccer Special during last night’s League Cup coverage, the former Aston Villa star was full of praise for the teenage midfielder. Palmer netted his first senior goal for City, and what a strike it was.
The youngster ran through the majority of the pitch unchallenged before executing a brilliant finish past the Wycombe Wanderers keeper to make it 6-1 to City on the night.
Indeed, Palmer was one of many City youngsters to get minutes in the League Cup. But for Hendrie, it was the England youth star who impressed the most against the League One side despite starting the game on the bench.
The Sky Sports pundit said: “This is what you want to see from your younger players coming into your side.
“He looked the part when he came on. He’s lively, he’s bouncing around, he wants the ball. That’s confidence.”
With Palmer impressing at all levels for City this season, there’s a strong chance we will see more of the 19-year-old midfielder this year. The teenager has long been viewed as one of the top talents coming through the Manchester side.

And now, supporters have seen with their own eyes just how good Palmer can be. His goal was one of the best on the night, and Pep Guardiola would have no doubt been impressed with what he saw from the England youth star.
