West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini posted on Instagram ‘that’s big’ after Tottenham and Erik Lamela scooped the FIFA Puskás award on Monday.

Now at Sevilla, Lamela won the award for his ‘rabona’ goal during Tottenham’s north London derby clash against Arsenal last season, as the club posted on their website.

For the second year running, Spurs have picked up the Puskás award after Heung-Min Son won that title for his solo goal against Burnley.

It’s big and memorable enough to win the award once, but, for a club to scoop the award back-to-back is something.

Perhaps the only dampener for Spurs fans is that they lost the game against Arsenal for which Lamela has picked up the award.

Nonetheless, it shouldn’t take away from the pure beauty that was produced by the Argentina international which, at the time, even left his own teammate, Sergio Reguilon, in utter shock.

For someone like Lamela, it wasn’t the first time that he scored such a goal because he did so during the early part of his Spurs career.

When Lamela posted on Instagram regarding winning the Puskás award for Tottenham, Lanzini posted this message to his fellow countryman.

“That’s big, friend,” said Lanzini. “Congratulations. You deserve it.”

Lamela beat the Czech Republic’s Patrick Schick and Porto’s Mehdi Taremi to the top prize yesterday.

Schick’s goal came near the halfway line against Scotland at Euro 2020, whilst Taremi’s strike came against Chelsea in the Champions League.
