
Chelsea fans loved Nottingham Forest supporters’ ‘champions of Europe’ chant during their 1-0 FA Cup win against Arsenal on Sunday.
The two-time European champions may be sitting in England’s second tier, but they have a rich history in English football.
And within a minute of their FA Cup showdown against the Gunners, the chants of ‘champions of Europe, you will never sing that’ was reverberating around the City Ground and aimed towards those in the away end.
Chelsea are the current European holders, they have also won the competition twice, only Liverpool and Manchester United have won more.
And they enjoyed how Forest were quick to remind Arsenal that they don’t have a Champions League/European Cup in their cabinet.
In English football, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Forest and Aston Villa are the only ones to have lifted that ultimate prize.
Whilst those in Forest colours were goading the opposition pretty early on yesterday.
Their team backed it up on the pitch by producing a performance worthy of a win and then Lewis Grabban got the all-important crucial goal late in the second half.
That’s Forest’s name in the hat for the fourth round and they will now lock horns against their Midlands rivals, Leicester City.
