Ray Parlour has stuck the boot into Newcastle United for not refunding their supporters.
Despite the remainder of the Magpies’ season being played behind closed doors and without fans in attendance, the club has not refunded the supporters for their tickets.
Effectively, the St James’s Park faithful are paying for matches that they will be unable to watch in the flesh.
And even worse, Newcastle have no plans to address the supporters’ concerns over this matter at the moment [The Chronicle].
To add insult to injury, many fans have even had season ticket money for the 2020-21 campaign debited from their account already.
And former Arsenal midfielder Parlour has described the whole situation as a ‘joke’.
He said on talkSPORT breakfast [05/06]: “That is a disgrace, really. You are not going to see any football. I can see lower divisions when they offer the fans the choice.
“I saw a report on Walsall who said they were going to give the money back to the fans and some fans said: ‘No, I want to help the club going forward because we are running out of cash here’.
“But from a Premier League club? We have had a lot of positive news with Newcastle and the takeover and now this negative news comes out with them taking the money in and not refunding. That is a joke. What are they thinking of, Newcastle, by not refunding their money?”
Newcastle fans are furious, but for now many have shelved their frustrations in anticipation of new owners coming in.
The Premier League is still mulling a decision on whether they should approve Saudi Public Investment Fund’s £300 million takeover.
