Club legend and Sky Sports pundit, Kevin Campbell has told Claude & Bansta’s that Arsenal didn’t appoint Carlo Ancelotti as their manager last December because Everton have a ‘bigger budget’ than them.

Both Arsenal and Everton sacked their underperforming managers – Unai Emery and Marco Silva – during the festive period of last season.

The Toffees pushed for the might and trophy-laden experience of Ancelotti, 61, whilst those in North London opted to go down the modern route of appointing the fresh-faced and managerial toddler, Arteta.

Whilst Arteta has delivered the FA Cup, there has been a sense of discontent amongst the Arsenal faithful regarding the job he is doing, as Campbell made it clear why Ancelotti wasn’t the one signed up instead.

“Maybe Ancelotti realised that he didn’t have money to spend and he had money at Everton to spend,” said Campbell. “At the end of the day, the manager has to be told what his budgets are and all that kind of thing.

“Everton’s budget is bigger than Arsenal’s, at the moment. And that’s a fact.”

In the Premier League, Ancelotti’s Everton side have outperformed their London rivals because they are currently sitting in the top six, whilst Arteta and his players linger in the bottom half.

From an attacking perspective, which has been an issue for Arsenal fans, Everton have also looked that much better on the eye.

But the fact that those at Goodison Park backed their manager by signing a creative force, such as James Rodriguez, and those at the Emirates didn’t, speaks volumes.
