Pundit Darren Bent has blasted Cristian Romero after his disappointing display for Tottenham Hotspur in their 4-3 defeat to Liverpool.
The £42.5 million (Football.London) man was at fault for Mohamed Salah’s strike, as he made a rash challenge inside the box to gift him a penalty.
The World Cup winner also lost Luis Diaz for his well-taken goal in what was an extremely poor performance.
Reflecting on Tottenham Hotspur’s late loss to Liverpool, pundit Darren Bent singled out Cristian Romero for his forgettable outing.
Pundit Darren Bent slates Cristian Romero as Tottenham get beaten by Liverpool
The Argentine defender has endured a nightmarish campaign for Spurs, especially since the World Cup, as he makes mistake after mistake.
From rash tackles to unnecessary sending offs and suspect defensive awareness, Romero has taken a huge dip in terms of his performances this season.
After Tottenham suffered a gut-wrenching late defeat to Liverpool, pundit Darren Bent tore into Cristian Romero.

“What you can’t live with is how reckless Romero is in every single game. That’s a concern, because every single game, he gives a penalty away, he’s been sent off. He makes those types of challenges all the time and just, at times, he doesn’t get punished for it”, he said on talkSPORT.
Pundit Darren Bent elaborated on why Cristian Romero is becoming a problem for Tottenham, saying, “You’re talking about an experienced defender, someone who’s won the World Cup, someone who some people who say is one of the best centre-halves in the country. He can’t be.”
“I mean, what’s he going to ground there for anyway? Just stay on your feet! But honestly, he does this every single game. And he doesn’t get punished. He almost becomes a liability.”
HITC View: Cristian Romero needs to up his game
What pundit Darren Bent has said about Cristian Romero simply cannot be argued against, as he showcased against Liverpool as well that he simply cannot be relied upon by Tottenham at the moment.
Time and again, the 25-year-old seems to make self-inflicted howlers that further make life hell for his side and in a big game, he has once again let himself down.
Sure, there’s a player in there but Romero needs to step up his game and fast, as on the whole, he has underwhelmed during his time at N17.
