Ian Wright has hilariously shared on his Wrighty’s House Podcast that it angers him that his Tottenham-supporting mates are feeling sorry for him because of Arsenal’s current situation.
The Arsenal legend shared that it is ‘weird’ that the Tottenham fans are talking to him in such a way following Jose Mourinho’s side being triumphant in the North London derby last Sunday.
What didn’t help Arsenal fans cause is that their rivals moved to the top of the table whilst they are slumped in the bottom half.
Arsenal legend, Wright, in his own unique way, shared what it has been like with the Tottenham fans since that derby win.
“The Tottenham fans, I really like what you said about the Tottenham fans and how they are feeling right now,” said Wright. “But I do feel that they are starting to think ‘Yes, Liverpool are good. Yes, City are going to do what they are going to do. But we will probably give them two teams a good game but we’ll beat the rest of the teams’.
“So, Tottenham being up there frightens me. There is something about their fans, and a couple of my Tottenham mate fans, we talk, we flex ‘you’re team is doing really well’.
“It’s kind of weird because they’ll say ‘Arsenal, at the moment, bro’. They can say it in a way where they feel sorry for you and that would anger me. Don’t f*****g feel sorry for me and what we are doing. If you are going to say something then say constructively and that. And that’s the kind of fans I have got.
“I can easily say to them ‘I totally see where you are going and why you can do it’. And they can look at us and say ‘I can totally see what your manager is trying to do and why it may not happen’.”
Things may well get worse for Arsenal fans because if the trophy-laden coach, Mourinho, adds another trophy to his cabinet then it won’t be a good look on those at the Emirates.
Spurs fans are hoping the outspoken and stubborn Mourinho can be the guy to deliver the Premier League title for them.
And in truth, there isn’t a better time to win the title given the situation everyone finds themselves in and how the supposed favourites – Man City and Liverpool – have been performing this term.
