Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp spoke to Sport Buzzer about his plans beyond the end of his contract at Anfield.

The German will go down as a Liverpool legend after guiding the club to their first league title in three decades. Klopp has completely changed the Reds but he is not done just yet.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss committed his future to the club in December last year. His contract runs until the summer of 2024 but the German seems to have decided his plans after that.

He said: “I’ll take a year off and ask myself if I miss football. If I say no, then that will be the end of coach Jurgen Klopp. If one day I am no longer a coach, there is one thing I will not miss: the brutal tension immediately before the game.”

That all but confirms that Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of his contract in 2024. Liverpool fans would love for their boss to stay well beyond that but it doesn’t look like that will happen.

If Klopp does stay until 2024, that would almost be his ninth year as the Liverpool boss. That would be some record, considering that the average term for a manager these days is nowhere near that long.

Klopp has won the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup so far as a Red. Four more years at the helm will give him enough opportunities to double that number and it won’t be a surprise if he goes on to achieve that.

Liverpool fans will cherish every moment of having him as their boss for the next few years. The Reds board did brilliantly to tie him down to a new deal at the end of last year and they will surely attempt to keep him on for a few more.

Klopp seems determined to take some time off in 2024 and after everything he has done for the club, Liverpool fans will support his decision, even if it means they will need to find a new manager.
