Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing the Newcastle takeover and how fans reacted after finding out the club had been sold.
United fans have been waiting for this moment for years, and once it was confirmed that the club had indeed been sold, supporters gathered outside of St James’ Park to celebrate.
Seaman says that he can understand why Newcastle fans were so buzzing, but he stated that their celebrations may have been a bit over the top, claiming that they reacted as if they’d just won a trophy.

Seaman gave his view on the supporters’ celebrations last week.
“Being a Newcastle fan at the moment must be a great time. I saw the celebrations when Ashley sold the club and that was weird, because I was thinking ‘hang on, have they won something?’ Would Arsenal fans celebrate in the same way? But yeah, it was a weird one to see,” Seaman said.
Not won anything yet
As much as Newcastle fans have a right to celebrate, Seaman is spot on in saying this was a bit over the top.
We can understand why fans are happy. After all, the club could reach brand new heights under this ownership, but let’s not forget that Newcastle are in the relegation zone right now without a single win in the league.
Flares, flags and chanting outside of a ground is usually something reserved for when a club has achieved something, but as things stand, Newcastle are still one of the worst teams in the Premier League.
If the Magpies are relegated this season those celebrations last week may look rather silly in hindsight.
