Tottenham Hotspur have had an impressive transfer window so far thanks to the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton last month.
The Denmark international is exactly the type of player that thrives under Jose Mourinho and Spurs fans are right to be excited over the prospect of seeing him in their colours when the season starts next weekend.
Tottenham had to fight hard to sign the former Southampton skipper. Hojbjerg reportedly had offers from other clubs this summer, most notably from Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton.
TalkSport revealed back in July that Everton, after two rejected bids, were set to beat Spurs to the Dane’s signature. However, Hojbjerg chose a move to North London thanks to a quick chat with a former Tottenham star.
Christian Eriksen convinced Hojbjerg to join Tottenham
Tottenham’s new midfielder spoke to Ekstra Bladet this week about his decision to join Mourinho’s side. It looks like Christian Eriksen’s assurances made a big difference in helping him make up his mind.
He said: “I called Christian and had a chat. I had some questions that I would have had clarified and that was really positive. The talk I had with Christian strengthened my desire and feeling to move to Tottenham.”

Eriksen was a hero to Tottenham supporters during his six-and-a-half year spell at the club. The Dane played over 300 games for Spurs, scoring 69 goals and providing 89 assists in all competitions.
His departure in January didn’t go down as smoothly as Tottenham would have liked but he is still adored by Spurs supporters.
Hojbjerg can become just as effective for Tottenham as Eriksen was. The former Southampton man isn’t as attack-minded as his compatriot but he is a solid all-round midfielder who fits into Mourinho’s system perfectly.
