One of the players Manchester United sold in the summer of 2023 was Anthony Elanga, and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been impressed by what he has seen of the winger at Nottingham Forest so far.

Liverpool will take on Nottingham Forest away from home at the City Ground in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the match, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has namechecked two Forest players who are a major threat.

And, as you can see below, one of them is Anthony Elanga, who joined Forest from Manchester United in the summer of 2023.

As reported by The Guardian in July 2023, Forest paid United £15 million in transfer fees for the 21-year-old. He reportedly turned down the chance to move to Everton before switching to the City Ground.

Elanga came through the United academy system and played for the first team under head coach Erik ten Hag before being offloaded last summer.

Interestingly, United did not sell Antony, who struggled last season and has continued to fail to deliver this campaign as well.

The 24-year-old Brazilian winger worked with Ten Hag at Ajax. He has not scored or provided an assist in 11 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

Antony scored four goals and gave two assists in 23 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for United last season.

Elanga has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 18 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest this season.

The 21-year-old Sweden international winger is certainly having a better season than Antony, and you wonder if Ten Hag regrets selling the youngster than the Brazilian in the summer of 2023.
