BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has said that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy will not appoint Ryan Mason as the permanent manager of the first team.

The former Chelsea striker has written on BBC Sport that Ryan Mason has not done anything of note to convince Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy that he deserves the role on a permanent basis.

Mason is in temporary of charge of Spurs until the end of the season.

The Englishman has publicly said that he wants to be in charge of the Tottenham first team on a permanent basis.

However, BBC Sport pundit Sutton does not think that the 31-year-old manager will be the permanent Spurs boss.

Sutton wrote: “Tottenham’s interim head coach Ryan Mason has indicated he wants the job permanently but he hasn’t done anything since taking charge which makes you think ‘blimey, he can take them to the next level’. That might sound harsh, but that’s the way it seems to me.”

Ryan Mason unlikely to become permanent Tottenham Hotspur manager

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is not going to appoint Ryan Mason as the permanent manager of the first team.

Mason is not winning matches regularly, and the performance of the Tottenham team under him has not been particularly great.

Spurs are now out of the running for the Premier League top four.

And there is a distinct possibility that Tottenham will not even end up in the UEFA Champions League places in the league table.
