Michael Brown has suggested that Harry Kane’s ‘mindset might change’ about his Tottenham future ahead of the imminent arrival of Antoni Conte, as he told Sky Sports (01/11/21 at 10:25 am).

There were well-documented rumours in the summer that Manchester City wanted to sign the Tottenham striker and he wanted to leave.

The England captain even came out on Twitter in the summer to inform the Spurs supporters that he will be staying in North London ‘this summer’.

Given that Kane has only scored one Premier League goal this season, it doesn’t help matters when he doesn’t perform because he was even booed by how own fans over the weekend.

But things are now different, Nuno Espirito Santo is no longer in the dugout and it seems as though it’s going to be Conte on an 18-month deal, according to Sky Sports.

If that’s the case, then ex-Spurs midfielder Brown suggested that Kane’s transfer stance might change, although he does feel it is up to the player, at the end of the day in what is a ‘huge problem’ for the club.

“I do feel with the Harry Kane situation, is he just waiting all the time, for the next window and for the next opportunity to move away from the football club,” said Brown.

“I think that’s a huge problem for Spurs. Do you finally take the money and let him go? Do you move on, if that’s the case? Only Kane can answer that.

“Does a Conte change it? If a Conte coming in, a top manager as we know, he’s going to have that strength in depth. He is going to be able to sign top players.

“That might change Harry Kane’s mindset. But I still think he is looking over his shoulder to go and leave the club, to somewhere different and a different challenge for him.”

In truth, Spurs have already had a big-name and trophy-laden coach in the dugout in Jose Mourinho.

That seemingly didn’t change Kane’s stance in wanting to leave, so it’s going to be interesting what changes Conte is able to make.

There’s no doubt he has the pull to keep players at the club, bring in the big-names and confidently tell his players that he will put trophies on the table.

But it’s going to be interesting to see what happens in January and how Conte does react if Kane expresses those same vibes that he wants out.
