Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has been discussing what Arsenal need to add to their squad and the Gunners’ midfield.
A lot of the focus heading into January has been around new attacking talents arriving at the Emirates. The Gunners have been after a winger for a while now, while Gabriel Jesus’ injury has thrown a spanner into the works up front.
However, Wright has now urged his former club to have a look at bringing in a new midfielder, stating that he would really like the Gunners to sign a player like Aurelien Tchouameni.

Wright wants a midfield signing
The pundit urged the north London club to go out and get someone like Tchouameni.
“There’s still midfield players. You look at the midfield players around like Tchouameni, that kind of player, you can’t get him now he’s obviously 100 million at Real Madrid. Off the top of my head, no, but Mudryk at striker, that’s what they’ll need now, but at some stage Arsenal will need to cover in the midfield and at centre-half,” Wright said.
Easier said than done
We’re sure that if Arsenal could go out and sign a player like Tchoaumeni they absolutely would, but unfortunately, doing that is easier said than done.
Indeed, Tchouameni cost €100m this summer for a reason, he’s an incredibly rare talent.
Players like this don’t come around very often, and when they do, the top teams in Europe immediately go after them.
Of course, that isn’t to say that it’s impossible to uncover a gem – Leicester City got hold of N’Golo Kante after all, but again, those types of signings are few and far between.
Arsenal should be on the lookout for a new midfielder, but there’s no guarantee that they’ll be able to find one.
