Some Arsenal fans have accused Mikel Arteta of being too harsh on Nicolas Pepe, after his reaction to the winger’s miss last night.
Pepe was presented with an opportunity with Arsenal 3-1 up against Rapid Wien.
However, the Ivorian checked inside and tried to beat a defender, rather than taking his chance to shoot.
In the end Pepe was tackled and he passed up the opportunity, much to Arteta’s frustration.
The Arsenal boss threw his arms up in the air in disgust and turned away from the pitch.
And some Arsenal supporters feel that Arteta’s reaction was far too harsh.
Arteta publicly criticised Pepe after his recent red-card, and has not always shown great faith in him with his team selections this season.
However, the Arsenal boss has always talked up Pepe’s natural ability, even if he does want him to be more consistent.
Pepe will be unavailable for selection at the weekend in the North London derby, as he is still serving his suspension.
