Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, Michail Antonio has named Kevin De Bruyne as the one player he’d love West Ham to go out and sign.
The striker was asked to name the one player in the Premier League he’d most like to put in the West Ham team, and after a bit of deliberation, the Jamaica international eventually settled on De Bruyne.
The two-time PFA Player of the Year winner is certainly worthy of this acknowledgement – he’s arguably the best player in England, and Antonio says that he’d love to work with the Belgian due to his ability to provide assists.
Antonio would love De Bruyne
The striker spoke about his desire to play with De Bruyne.
“Anyone in the Premier League? Oh that is a great question. Yeah I agree to be fair. I think I’m going to have to go with De Bruyne as well. As a striker you want someone to assist you and he is the assist man, so being a striker that is the player I would want to be playing with,” Antonio said.
How many would he score?
It is really interesting to consider just how many goals Antonio would score if he was placed in the same team as Kevin De Bruyne.
The West Ham forward may not be the most reliable finisher of all-time, but given how fast and strong he is, he’s able to get himself in some very dangerous positions.
As De Bruyne has shown this season alongside Erling Haaland, he can absolutely thrive alongside a striker in that sort of mould, and we have to imagine that he’d put chance after chance on a plate for Antonio if they were in the same team.
Unfortunately, Antonio is probably never going to get to play with De Bruyne, but we have to think that this pairing would be deadly if they were ever united.
