Chris Sutton was left stunned on BBC’s 606 when a rival fan suggested that he wouldn’t take Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson on a ‘free-transfer’.

Former Premier League striker Sutton found the claims ‘remarkable’ and he had to remind the supporter of what Henderson has achieved in his career.

Last season, the combative midfielder lifted the Premier League title for Liverpool for the first time in 30 years, and during the previous season, they won the Champions League.

But when a rival supporter phoned up on 606 and suggested that he doesn’t rate Henderson as an international player and wouldn’t take him on a free transfer to Old Trafford, it left Sutton shocked.

“What?!” Sutton reacted on 606. “Hang on a minute. You just said that you wouldn’t take Jordan Henderson on a free transfer to Manchester United.

“A Premier League winner, who was Liverpool’s outstanding player last season, and they have got some outstanding players. And a Champions League winner aswell the previous season.

“I mean that is remarkable.”

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

There isn’t a team in the Premier League in which Henderson wouldn’t walk into and he’s the type of player needed by all teams.

Ability aside, Henderson has a brilliant knack of getting that 10, 20 or 30% extra out of his teammates, which is utterly crucial when you are chasing titles and trying to win trophies.

He makes the players around him better, he has a presence in the middle of the mark and over the years, he has also become more of a progressive passer of the ball.
