Peter Schmeichel hailed Mohamed Salah’s moment of brilliance that helped Liverpool beat Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.

For the second away game in a row, Mohamed Salah was allowing his passing to do the talking, as Schmeichel hailed his ‘outstanding’ assist for Andy Robertson’s winner.

With five minutes left on the clock, Liverpool pounced on a poor goal kick, with Robertson attacking Wolves’ backline, linking up with Salah, who proceeded to find the stand-in captain with a brilliantly weighted pass that was tapped home by the left-back.

It left Premier League legend and former goalkeeper Schmeichel amazed, including the ‘unbelievable’ touch from Salah to set himself up for the pass, as he told PL Productions (16/09/23 at 8:35 pm).

Forget about goalscorer Salah, step forward creative Salah because, after five Premier League games, he has two goals and four assists to his name.

The 31-year-old is flying during the early stages of the new season, with Schmeichel sharing his thoughts.

Salah assists Robertson

“What a finish (from Robertson),” said Schmeichel. “When the goalkeeper gets the ball (to boot out it of his hands). I don’t think you are allowed to do what the Liverpool players are doing there.

“But the referee let it go and VAR didn’t look at it. Then the ball gets to Salah, that little touch is unbelievable. Let’s not take away the quality of the pass, and then the finish. That is outstanding. You see the pass. It’s just quality.”

Salah’s passing is underrated

There are some who have branded Salah as selfish over the years, which is just complete and utter rubbish.

You have to be ruthless as a goalscorer and Salah, no doubt, has that in his locker.

But as he proved at St James’ Park recently, and again yesterday, his composure under pressure when producing a pass is outstanding and underrated.
