Fans of the beautiful game have taken to Twitter to react after Tottenham target Nicolo Barella pulled off a sensational bit of skill on Sunday.
What’s the story?
Well, if Tottenham can get their hands on Barella, Antonio Conte will have a gem of a midfielder on his hands.
On Sunday, the 35-cap Italy international provided two assists as Inter Milan beat Cagliari 4-0, and his first was magical.
The seven-second footage shows Barella receiving a throw in from Denzel Dumfries, before juggling the ball while holding off a defender.
Then, the 24-year-old fires in a perfectly measured cross for Alexis Sanchez, who barely had to move before thumping a volley into the net.
Barella now has eight assists in 16 Serie A appearances this season, which is a fantastic record.
Will Tottenham sign Nicolo Barella?
In our view, there’s no reason why this deal cannot happen.
It was the Daily Mail who claimed that Antonio Conte wants his fellow countryman at Hotspur Way.
It was said that Conte will be given funds to improve his Tottenham squad, and Dusan Vlahovic is also in his sights.
Barella would, presumably, jump at the chance to join arguably the best Italian manager of the past decade.
London is also an attractive destination for overseas players, especially N17 with the quality of Tottenham’s new stadium.
Additionally, Inter Milan are struggling financially, so this deal could definitely happen.
In our view, Barella would take Tottenham’s midfield up a gear.
He was described as the best midfielder in the world by famous Italian football agent Furio Valcareggi, and it’s becoming harder to argue against that (Tutto Mercato Web).
Crucially, Spurs don’t have a player like the Inter Milan No.23, so he would offer Conte something different in the middle of the park.
