Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after a photo of Dirk Kuyt emerged, and it’s safe to say he’s changed a bit since his playing days.

The former Netherlands international has ditched the curly locks, grown a bit of facial hair, and has also given himself a ‘quiff’ hairstyle in stark contrast to how he once looked.

Regardless of his appearance, you can’t deny that the 40-year-old is a cult hero at Anfield.

Kuyt netted 71 goals in 285 appearances for the Reds, while also assisting 40 more.

The former Feyenoord attacker also helped Liverpool win the League Cup in 2012, after Kenny Dalglish’s side beat Cardiff at Wembley.

It was Kuyt who thought he’d won it with a goal in extra-time, although Ben Turner’s strike saw a penalty shootout commence.

He also lifted the Community Shield in 2006, after a 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Kuyt enjoyed an excellent time on Merseyside, and is still thought of fondly by the Anfield faithful.

However, if he was to walk the streets of Merseyside right now, we doubt he’d be getting stopped for many autographs – purely because nobody would recognise him!

Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about his new look…
