‘That is insane’: Some Liverpool fans stunned by Van Dijk’s goal in training

Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk is clearly a man of many talents.

He’s probably the best defender in world football, evident by the fact he finished second behind Lionel Messi in the Ballon d’Or stakes earlier this season.

Not only that, but he’s a wonderful technical centre-back, with a silky ball-playing ability to match the steel of his 6-foot-5 frame.

And he’s lightning-quick. And he has a leap on him that would make Dick Fosbury notice.

In terms of athletic ability, there just isn’t many in football superior to Van Dijk – and if that wasn’t impressive enough, he can also take a mean free kick.

With the camera rolling at Melwood during the Reds’ training session on Saturday afternoon, Van Dijk bent it like Beckham and got an insane amount of curl on a free kick that was taken behind the goal.
