Speaking on the Claret & Blue Podcast, journalist Ashley Preece has claimed that Julian Alvarez could be the next signing through the door at Aston Villa.
Alvarez has been linked with Villa for some time now, and Preece says that talks are continuing with the Argentine over a move to Villa Park and that this signing could be the next one to happen.

Preece says that Villa could sign the Argentine, stating that we may see some movement in the coming days.
“Julian Alvarez, the River Plate winger, talks are continuing with him over a deal, that could be the next to happen,” Preece said
The journalist again spoke about Alvarez later in the podcast.
“Yeah, Alvarez, colleagues over in Argentina are saying that talks are progressing, but no bid has been lodged yet, so we’ll have to wait and see with that one. There is an element of risk there of course, but Villa will get character references from Martinez and Buendia who have been around him in the Argentina set-up.
“The groundwork has been done, and Dean Smith wants good characters coming in and he’s built a squad of those players, so if he fits the bill I think Villa will get that one over the line, so we’ll see in the coming days.”
Impressive
Aston Villa have had a very impressive window so far and that looks set to continue with the potential signing of Alvarez.
Emi Buendia and Ashley Young have already been two intriguing additions, and signing Alvarez would add another Argentina international to the squad.
If this level of ambition continues for the remainder of the summer, the sky may be the limit for the Villans.
