Some Leeds United fans on social media have been reacting to a report from Super Deporte that states they could receive €23m (£20m) for Helder Costa from Valencia.
What’s the story with Costa?
Costa was sent out on loan to Valencia in the summer, and it’s fair to say that he’s been impressing.
Indeed, while he’s not put up many goals or assists, the Valencia manager has compared him to Cristiano Ronaldo and claimed that he could be a star for the La Liga club.
Things seem to be going swimmingly for Costa in Spain, but if the La Liga outfit want to keep the winger at the Mestalla, they’ll have to cough up the cash.
Huge fee
£20m is massive money for Costa.
Leeds spent £16m on the winger a couple of years ago, and, with all due respect, he’s really not proven to be value for money at that price.
Indeed, he quickly fell out of favour after the arrival of Raphinha, and the fact that he’s been shipped out on loan this term tells you all you need to know about his standing at Elland Road.
Leeds supporters simply can’t believe that the club could get £20m for the Angolan international, and we would be shocked if Valencia actually ended up coughing up that amount for the 27-year-old.
