Danny Murphy has praised Marcelo Bielsa for being ‘unapologetic’ for the way he sets Leeds United up, as he told Match of the Day.
The former midfielder shared that Leeds played with ‘bravery’ and ‘courage’ over the weekend, as they beat Watford 1-0 on home soil.
It was a much-needed win for Leeds and their first of the campaign, which comes just at the right time because they have just entered the international break.
But, even though confidence would have been low in Yorkshire given recent results, Leeds were still on the front foot against Watford.
And that’s something Murphy admired and praised Leeds for, in a game that they should have won more by than just their single goal.
“The first half was terrific,” said Murphy “To play with that bravery. That courage and in desperate need of points. Wanting to appease the fans, who haven’t been able to watch them play like that.
“They pressed. Went on the front foot and played good football. Even played through them, when Watford tried to press them high up the pitch. It was a real complete performance, other than a second goal to give them a cushion they needed.
“You can see the amount of numbers high up the pitch (five during one phase of attack). We have seen Leeds do this for a long time now. He is unapologetic with the way he sets his team up.
“And I enjoy watching them play.”

One problem that has constantly faced Leeds, since the start of the season, is injuries and suspensions.
And if they can avoid that after the international break then there’s no reason why they can’t climb the table.
Bielsa doesn’t like to work with a deep squad, which is an issue in the modern game, but it’s what makes him unique.
