Thanks to Tevez, Barton is suddenly a Manchester United hero

Carlos Tevez has just achieved the impossible…

24 hours ago if you had asked a Manchester United fan what they thought of Joey Barton, you would have heard expletives, and perhaps even a bit of pity.

His on-pitch implosion against City put his QPR side right under the cosh, and was character defining.

Yet the fact it involved an elbow to the head of Carlos Tevez won’t have gone unnoticed.

After Carlos Tevez’ behaviour at City’s victory parade this afternoon, United fans will suddenly be glad ‘in a way’ that Barton clobbered him one.

‘Couldn’t happen to a nice bloke.’

Tevez was pictured on the City victory bus holding a ‘RIP Fergie’ banner, adding a touch of ill-taste to a glorious day for City which will be seized upon by tomorrow’s tabloids.

The fact that any one can do something to make the odious Barton look good to some, says a heck of a lot.

Is Tevez’ banner just harmless ‘banter’ or another PR-disaster from one of the most ill-advised individuals in today’s game?

Like Aguero still being fit enough to bag the winner, United fans will wish Barton whacked Tevez harder too…

United fans, who would you rather see never play in the Premier League again? Tevez or Barton?
