Norwich City’s Alexander Tettey has suffered ligament damage.
Norwich City manager Daniel Farke says Alexander Tettey has picked up a damaging ligament injury which could pave the way for a rare start for Kenny McLean at Bolton Wanderers, Eastern Daily Press report.
“Sadly there is a ligament injury for Alex who is already back in Norwich and will have a scan this evening, maybe tomorrow morning. It seems like a ligament is interrupted and we have to probably do without him for the next few weeks,” Farke explained.
Tettey started the game at Preston North End in midweek alongside Tom Trybull, with both Moritz Leitner and Mario Vrancic missing the defeat at Deepdale with injury.
The injuries are starting to mount at Carrow Road with the likes of Timm Klose, Emiliano Buendia and Louis Thompson also out of action, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time with Norwich in the promotion hunt.
Tettey’s absence leaves Norwich extremely light in the middle of the park for their trip to Bolton, therefore Farke will have to shuffle the pack around and could give a rare start to midfielder McLean.
McLean joined the Canaries from Aberdeen in January 2018 but re-joined the Scottish Premiership side for the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign where he helped the Dons to a second-placed finish.
The five-capped Scotland international has barely played for Norwich this season, making just one Championship start and a further five substitute appearances including a late cameo at Preston.
McLean, 27, would now be the obvious choice to play alongside Trybull at Bolton, and he may see it as the ideal time to really make an impression as he no doubt seeks to establish himself as a future first-teamer.
