
Some Newcastle United fans on social media have been reacting after The Athletic reported that Eddie Howe and Unai Emery are the only candidates remaining in the race to become the Magpies’ new manager.
United supporters were excited to hear that Emery could be coming to St James’ Park, but they were rather concerned about the idea of Howe coming in.
To be honest, we can understand why.
Now, we’re not saying that Howe is a bad manager. After all, he did win the EFL Manager of the Decade for the 2010s, but this would be a rather unambitious appointment for the richest club in the world.
Indeed, Howe was relegated with Bournemouth before leaving the south coast club and he hasn’t worked in football for 18 months at this point.
Meanwhile, Emery is a much more proven commodity, he’s managed some of the biggest clubs in the world and he’s a serial winner of the Europa League.
United fans are certainly worried about the idea of Howe coming in, and here’s what they’ve been saying on social media…
