Leeds United take on Cardiff City at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Former Leeds United star Terry Yorath has told BBC Radio Wales that he thinks Neil Warnock will receive a muted response from the Elland Road faithful on Saturday afternoon.

The Whites are back at Elland Road this weekend having lost 2-1 to Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon, and will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Their opponents Cardiff have been in decent form of late, winning four of their last seven games to drag themselves eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Saturday’s clash sees Cardiff defender Sol Bamba make his first return to Elland Road since being released by Leeds in September, whilst Bluebirds manager Neil Warnock also takes on his former club.

Warnock, 68, took charge of Leeds in February 2012 following Simon Grayson’s departure, but lasted just over a year with Leeds just five points clear of the relegation zone at the time.

Warnock has enjoyed success since leaving Leeds, keeping Rotherham United in the Championship last season before also saving Cardiff this season, and will be hoping to put a dent in Leeds’ promotion hopes.

Ahead of the game, former Leeds ace Terry Yorath has told BBC Radio Wales that he expects Warnock to get a ‘muted’ reception from the Elland Road faithful this weekend.

Yorath suggested that the Leeds fans won’t be flat-out disrespectful towards Warnock, but can’t see him getting a good response having failed to enjoy much success in charge of the club.

“Muted,” said Yorath. “It will be muted. They won’t disrespect him, but I don’t think he’ll get the kind of welcome that a successful manager would have had,” he added.
