Terry Gibson believes Adama Traore could prove to be a real bargain for Aston Villa.
Pundit Terry Gibson has told Sky Sports that Barcelona shouldn’t have allowed recent Aston Villa signing Adama Traore to leave the club.
Traore, 19, came up through the ranks at the famous La Masia academy, just like Sergio Busquets, Xavi and Lionel Messi did.
The pacey winger had been viewed as one of the next big developing talents at Barcelona, so there was plenty of surprise in Catalunya when Traore was sold to Aston Villa this summer.
So far, Traore has played just twice for Villa due to a recent injury, but he has already shown fans what he can do having notched a superb assist against Crystal Palace and scored against Notts County in the Capital One Cup.
Traore’s arrival at Villa Park is seen as Tim Sherwood’s biggest signing by many supporters and pundits due to his reputation in the Barcelona B team.
Now, La Liga expert Terry Gibson has told Sky Sports that he was surprised Barcelona sanctioned such a deal to send Traore to Villa, and believes that the Spanish teenager could become a ‘real bargain’ at Villa Park.
“I was surprised that he was allowed to leave,” said Gibson. “It wasn’t such a huge sum of money that Barcelona couldn’t turn down. He’s strong, he’s lightning quick and very direct. He’s got a lot to learn but with the attributes he’s got, you feel there was enough there for Barcelona to want to do more to keep him.”
“For Aston Villa, it could prove to be a real bargain,” he added. “It was worth Aston Villa finding that money and taking the chance. The early signs are that he is the type of player that can fit into the Premier League.”
Villa fans will certainly be excited to see Traore return from injury in the near future, and Gibson’s comments show just how highly-rated the winger really is.
