Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers are below Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.

Rangers are doing well in the Scottish Premiership at the moment, and with Liverpool legend Gerrard in charge of the Gers, there is a lot of optimism about Ibrox.
Celtic have the best squad in Scotland, but the Glasgow giants’ start to the season has not been perfect, and there are signs that the Hoops are not as good as they have been for the past two seasons under Rodgers.
Butcher, who played for Rangers from 1986 until 1990, believes that Gerrard’s side are still a way off Celtic.
“Rangers have done very well under Steven Gerrard,” Butcher told talkSPORT. “The game against Celtic was a bit of a yard stick, they lost 1-0 and didn’t perform particularly well on the day, but they are getting better.
“You do wonder, with Rangers in particular making good strides, are they getting there towards Celtic, are they reaching the champions?
“I don’t think so, I think they’re still a way off, but they’re making good progress.”

Pushing Celtic
Celtic have recovered from their sluggish start to the season in the Scottish Premiership and are second in the league table at the moment with a game in hand.
Rangers are currently below the Hoops in the standings, and it is clear that at the moment, the Gers are not as good as Celtic, but the Ibrox outfit should still be giving their bitter Old Fir rivals a run for their money this season.
